Providence Health & Services Environmental Services Housekeeper in Centralia, Washington

Providence is calling a Environmental Services Housekeeper (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week Evening Shift) to work in the Environmental Service Patient Care at Providence Centralia Hospital in Centralia, WA.

The Housekeeper's principal will be doing a daily cleaning and supplying of patient rooms, nursing stations, soiled and clean utility rooms, lounges, laboratories, bathrooms, offices, and other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services/Security Department and in accordance with the facility's objectives.

In this position you will:

  • Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods:

  • Dust horizontal surfaces

  • Clean and empties all waste containers

  • Damp wipes clean all furniture

  • Clean and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms

  • Dry and wet mops all floors

  • Vacuum all carpeted flooring

  • Clean and wet mops all baseboards

  • Spot cleans walls and windows

  • Polish metal surfaces

  • Replenish rooms with toiletry products

  • Inspect and change cubicle curtains as needed

  • Strip and makes beds and performs checkout cleaning as assigned

  • Is flexible when assigned schedule changes may occur due to hospital needs

  • Assist in emergency cleaning needs upon request:

  • Follow correct emergency clean-up of unusual spills policy

  • Handle all emergency cleaning needs in a courteous, professional manner

  • Maintain assigned equipment, environmental closet, and storage areas for cleanliness:

  • Keep all equipment and supplies in an orderly fashion

  • Report the need of repair of any hospital equipment, furniture, fixtures, and/or building:

  • Use the proper procedure for reporting repairs by using work request forms

  • Practice good safety habits as defined for the hospital in Environmental Services:

  • Follow universal precautions and standards for protection of hospital staff for infectious diseases

  • Does not eat or drink in patient care areas

  • Use good hand washing techniques

  • Demonstrate current use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment assigned:

  • Uses the proper technique when mixing and using cleaning chemicals

  • Uses proper technique when using all cleaning equipment

  • Helps train new employees in the proper cleaning techniques

  • Remove general and infectious waste from hospital per policy:

  • Wear proper gloves when removing bio-waste

  • Handles Hazardous Materials and Waste and are trained for Hazardous Materials and Waste management

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills

  • Possess the ability to act on written and verbal instruction

  • Able to use vacuum cleaner and pager

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • One (1) year housekeeping or custodial experience
