Providence Health & Services Hospital Educator - Human Resources in Centralia, Washington


Providence is calling a Hospita Educator (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Human Resources at Providence Centralia Hospital in Centralia, WA.

The Hospita Educator performs functions that support the hospital and medical staff to continually improve patient care, reduce risk and provide excellent customer service. Clinical Educators provide clinical and didactic education to the nursing and ancillary staff and are involved in various levels of nursing education, consultation, research, and practice.

In this position you will:

  • Leads, develops, coordinates or supports quality improvement systems contributing to care effectiveness, customer service, financial stewardship, risk reduction and compliance with JCAHO and regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply quality improvement theory, principles, tool and methods including quality planning and redesign.

  • Strong leadership, coordination, and consultant skills.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple activities simultaneously.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of customer service concepts and methods.

  • Ability to perform system assessments regarding processes and outcomes.

  • Demonstrates critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving skills. Ability to follow through on responsibilities and commitments

  • Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams within the Education Council and throughout the facility for care effectiveness and continuum of care issues

  • Ability to motivate, negotiate and delegate appropriately. Willingness to accept and deal with resistance to change, confrontation.

  • Strong collaboration and team skills, including the ability to work well with physicians, all disciplines and staff levels

  • Provides learning opportunities to enhance care effectiveness

  • Knowledge of clinical pathways and other protocols and guidelines related to patient care.

  • Possess broad knowledge base of clinical information for patient care

  • Demonstrates understanding of continuum of care concepts, community education resources and support groups for patient populations

  • Manages and uses clinical, financial or other data to support performance improvement efforts, and service quality decisions for processes and outcomes.

  • Interacts with regulatory agencies to assure compliance and provides hospital staff education related to regulatory compliance and health system initiatives


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related or actively enrolled in a Master's Degree program.

  • Washington State Licensure as a Registered Nurse.

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHS BLS) certification.

  • Three (3) years recent experience in an acute care setting, which provided an in-depth knowledge of:

  • acute care clinical issues and patient care practices,

  • quality improvement theories and methods

  • adult learning principles, and

  • data analysis methods.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • One (1) year experience in nursing education.
