Providence Health & Services Manager, Environment of Care Operations - Plant Operations in Centralia, Washington


Providence is calling a Manager, Environment of Care Operations to Providence Centralia Hospital in Centralia, WA

The Manager Operations - Environment of Care provides manager level leadership and accountability over Facilities and Environmental Services and provides direct partnership/relationship with Security, Biomedical Engineering, Safety and Emergency Preparedness as defined by leadership with the region. Role will provide direct support to leaders at all ministries within the region. The Manager ensures that Facility Engineering and EVS in partnership with Security and Safety departments implements PSJH standardized processes, provide high quality services that are carried out in a uniform manner and in full compliance with all applicable regulatory standards. Performs duties in a manner consistent with Providence Mission and Core Values.

In this position you will:

  • Provides oversight, direction, and support for the assigned ministries hospital and facilities for: Plant Operation and Maintenance Departments which includes facilities design and construction efforts, Grounds Maintenance, and Environmental Services Departments. Informs and educates facility caregivers on system-wide vision, and performance goals. Supports all acute care facilities with connection and support to all related non-acute facilities.

  • Maintains current knowledge of the emerging facility and information management technologies. Directs the assigned region facilities and safety operational improvement processes and monitors results. Supports the PSJH processes to develop and implement strategies for quality and service improvements; and cost reductions. Reviews and analyzes organizational structure, work processes and initiates appropriate improvements activities as necessary. Shares innovative processes and best practices with PSJH Facility Engineering Council

  • Participates with the director in the development of and monitors the operational expense and capital budgets for assigned facilities and EVS. Directs the group purchasing processes for service contracts and ensures appropriate department participation consistent with the system's standards and goals.

  • Directs the implementation of standardized management processes for facility engineering, EVS; policy and reporting document formats, information and data management, consistent with PSJH standards. Directs the introduction and supports ministry facility caregivers in the implementation of PSJH initiatives to standardize processes and reduce cost and monitors results.

  • Supports the director by providing key data to deliver informational presentations on management processes regulatory compliance, system goals and objectives, status of ministries performance measures, and projects, etc. and speaks in front of small and large audiences as required.

  • Facilities Engineering Responsibilities: Oversees the development and delivery of standardized training and education programs required to maintain the competency of facility engineering staff.

  • Facilities Engineering Responsibilities: Provides support for the Energy Management program for the assigned region in collaboration with the RESO Director of Facility Infrastructure to manage utility and energy expenses.

  • Facilities Engineering Responsibilities: Engages in the development and implementation of the long-term capital budgets and facility re-investment program.

  • EVS Responsibilities: Oversees the development and delivery of standardized training and education programs required to maintain the competency of EVS staff.

  • EVS Responsibilities: Engages in the development and implementation of system level best practice, policies and procedures related to cleaning, linen management, upkeep, infection control and daily operational duties of the EVS team.

  • Other duties assigned as needed


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in the healthcare industry that includes a combination of the following: Experience working with support services within a healthcare environment such as Facilities, EVS, Safety, Security or other built environment related services. Involvement in discussions, working with or negotiating union contracts and agreements. Supporting, developing and administering projects. Supervising staff (with or without direct authority in daily operations or on project teams).

  • Minimum 4 years proven leadership experience (direct or indirect) in motivating teams to action, garnering support and buy-in, high engagement and excellent communication

  • Expert knowledge of:Federal, State, and Local codes and rules related Safety and Environmental Health Programs, and Facility Operations and Maintenance including local, State, regional and national regulations.Joint Commission Accreditation Standards, Center for Medicare-Medicaid Conditions of ParticipationDesign and function of building assemblies, electrical, mechanical equipment and systems, including building controls, fire safety, and fire alarm systems. Knowledge of local, federal, CDC, ASHREA, etc. standards for minimizing risks of infection related to policies, procedures and standards

  • Leadership, motivational, and team building skills that include demonstrated ability to manage a team remotely across a geographical area

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial-Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or related field.

  • Journeyman plant operation engineer or healthcare or hospitality related programs.
