Providence Physical Therapist in Centralia, Washington


Providence is calling an Physical Therapist (0.8 FTE, 32 hours per week Day Shift) to Providence Centralia Hospital in Centralia, Washington.

We are seeking a licensed PT who will work treating all types of patients including the CVA's, post orthopedic surgery, general medical and outpatients. S/he needs to be able to function well independently as well as part of a team, which not only includes other physical therapy staff, but physicians, nurses and social workers. Interest and willingness in participating in project improvement and development is an important part of this position

In this position you will:

  • Render or supervise treatment prescribed in writing by attending physician

  • Maintain appropriate entries in clinical records.

  • Effectively coordinates acute care services with all members of the patient care team. Interacts with all members of the team including other therapists, social services, nursing, and physicians to ensure effective coordination of services

  • Demonstrates knowledge of criteria for admit to TCU, Rehab and outpatient services

  • Performs effective documentation to relay needed information regarding recommended placement after discharge.

  • Demonstrates effective supervisory skills.

  • Supervises physical therapy assistants and aides

  • Assists department manager in setting job standards over any area of responsibility that may be assigned

  • Consistently "catches people in the act of doing right."

  • Plays active role in department and interdisciplinary team meetings; including participation as well as facilitation of meetings.

  • Responsible for ensuring continual improvement in billable productivity.

  • Billing is appropriate

  • Optimal length of treatment is rendered.

  • Maximizes complete work day and extended opportunities.

  • Utilizes assistants and aides effectively to maximize the quality and time spent with each patient. (Effectively plans master schedule and has ability to modify schedule as needed throughout the day to accommodate changes such as new physical therapy referrals, patient discharges, and changes in patient status).

  • Encourages and facilitates communication of employees with department manager

  • Reports to department manager concerning assigned program changes frequently enough to keep manager adequately informed.

  • This position has regular and recurrent direct clinical contact with Neonates, Adolescents, Infants, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics. The evaluator (manager/supervisor/peer) has observed the employee demonstrates skills required to care for the patients in the specific age groups listed above


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate in Physical Therapy from an accredited school.

  • Washington State Physical Therapy License

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS).

  • Clinical experience in treatment of a variety of patients, performance of exercise programs, transfer training and gait training for orthopedically and neurologically involved patients in acute care and/or outpatient.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Wound care experience beneficial.
